Gathering In
We have taken to calling this time of the year “heavy vegetable season.” We spend these weeks of Autumn gathering, hauling, washing, packing and hauling again loads of squash, onions, potatoes and root veggies. Cora says it’s a form of nesting - that is edible! We are tired at the end of the week but so grateful for a season where mother nature more or less cooperated with us and we are able to stuff the walk in with goodies for winter feasts.
Our Cookeville Market is bursting with Autumn goodness - apples, brussel sprouts, pumpkins, freshly harvested baby lettuce, spinach, kale, chard, leeks, cabbages, carrots, beets, winter squash, fresh herbs, potatoes, garlic and onions.
As always, we will be stocked with our pastured eggs, grocery staples, local milk, yogurt, ice cream, cheeses, fresh goodies from Marilyn and a freezer full of our very own pastured meats.
The Big News This Week is that Burger Night is Back! Come by the Market on Friday between 4 and 6 and pick up a farm-raised burger with all the fixings! We will also have farm-raised Chicken Wings!
Looking ahead - we are now taking reservations for our Thanksgiving Turkeys. Our pastured birds are a delicious, juicy and beautiful centerpiece for your holiday feast! Reserve yours today. Stop by the market or go to crossmolinafarm.com
The Market is open Wednesday thru Friday 8:30am till 6pm and Saturday 8:30 till 3pm.
