Looking Ahead!
February arrives this week and with it we reach a major milestone of winter - the half way mark between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. We call it Ground Hog’s Day, the ancient Celts called it Imbloc and the Irish shepherds called it Saint Bridget’s Day; they made straw crosses for their barns to bring good luck for the coming lambing season. We should begin lambing before the month is done and by the end of next week there is a enough daylight for our overwintered cold-hearty greens to start growing again and we will be planting the first seeds of the new year.
The bustle and hum of a new season at the farm means it's time to think about reloading your Crossmolina Cash Card. This is the time of year that traditional CSA farms look forward to the influx of member dollars to help order the seeds, feed and supplies for spring and summer growing. We offer the convenience of reloading your card at any tine of year, but the upfront dollars still make a huge difference for us at this time of year.
Reload your card at our Cookeville Market before March 1 and pay by cash or check to receive a $5.00 gift certificate for something yummy from our Farm Kitchen!
AND: Looking ahead to Valentines Day...we will be hosting a very special sit down dinner at the store with music from Dave Richard and Adam Boyce. Stop in to see the menu and make a reservation starting this week!
IN THE MEANTIME....our Cookeville Market is open and ready to help you shake those winter doldrums and look towards the light!
We are stocked with grocery staples, local milk, yogurt and cheeses, winter root veggies, microgreens, winter spinach and a freezer full of our very own pastured meats.
The Farm Kitchen has freshly juiced carrots, ginger, celery, apples, beets, oranges and apples - come try one of our flavor combos!
We are open regular hours - Wednesday through Saturday 8:30 till 6 and Saturday 8:30 till 3.
