Crescendo
To look out the back of the house at the view of the main farm fields you might think the season was mostly over - that it was time to sit by the fire and plan for nest year. That time is right around the corner but the past few weeks and next feel more like the culmination or crescendo of a symphony that began many, many months ago in early spring while the back field was equally empty looking. We have been harvesting, hauling, washing, bagging and hauling again the potatoes, carrots, brussels and squashes that will make so many feasts, We will process the holiday turkeys that have been growing in our pasture early next week and in the past two weeks we have also sent pork, beef and lamb to the butcher. they too will make so many meals for our community. It is tiring, sometimes wet, often cold and it is hands down our favorite time of year. We are honored to grow your feasts and send our very best wishes to your holiday tables.
